Virtual Roundtable

Automation has become the norm, but it has not made operations simple. According to IDC research, 78.5% of Global 2000 enterprises use infrastructure as code in production and 62.5% of cloud resources are created that way, which shifts the hard questions to Day 2.

The market is responding. IDC forecasts North America cloud security services revenue to grow at a 16.3% CAGR through 2030, and predicts that by 2030, 40% of Day 2 IT operations tasks will be handled by agentic AI with a human on the loop.

IDC, together with IBM, is convening a select group of cloud leaders for a candid virtual roundtable on how organizations automate, secure and govern AWS infrastructure across its lifecycle, from drift and policy enforcement to identity and AI-driven automation.

If you own AWS operations at scale, join us on Thursday, November 12 at 1:00 pm ET to benchmark your approach against peers and leave with a sharper view of the decisions ahead.

67%

of enterprises ran over budget on agent spend in the past 12 months, according to IDC’s Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending (FERS) Survey.

IT Operations Management alone is nearly a quarter (23.8%) of North America’s $44.55B market. The six markets shown, covering Day 2, change, automation and quality, total $26.57B, about 60%.

This is the broader North America cloud development and IT operations market, not AWS-specific.

Discussion Themes

Four Conversations Every Infrastructure and Platform Leader Should Be Having

Day 2 Operations, Drift and Desired State

Provisioning is largely automated; keeping environments correct is the harder part. 78.5% of Global 2000 enterprises use infrastructure as code in production. How leaders detect and correct drift, and how their approach compares with peers.

Governance and Policy Enforcement at Scale

IDC advises embedding controls in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code, so that the right way becomes the easy way. Policy as code is still emerging. Where leaders enforce policy today, and how they handle exceptions.

Identity, Secrets and Machine Identities

Non-human identities outnumber human ones by roughly 45 to 1, yet only about 47% of identity programs govern machine identities and 35% include AI agents. How leaders manage secrets and access for machines and agents.

AI-Driven Automation, Risk and Efficiency

IDC predicts that by 2030, 40% of Day 2 IT operations tasks will be handled by agentic AI with a human on the loop. How much autonomy leaders will allow, what oversight they need, and how they keep cost and risk in check.
