Human Risk: The X-Factor in Cybersecurity

People, Process & Technology are integral pillars of an organization. With the advent of technology and internet, these pillars started to share a thing in common, i.e. the Data. Over the decades, it has been proven that data is worth more than gold.

With every good happening in the world, there is a worse parallel. Seeing the great value of the data, cyber adversaries started to tamper its confidentiality, integrity and availability, resulting in the birth of the very industry we call “Cyber Security”.

Since then, it is cat and mouse play, with the organizations putting all kinds of technology controls and hackers using all the tools in their kit to steal confidential data. There was a time when bypassing technology controls was the core technique used by hackers. With the passage of time, the tools have changed, the targets have changed and so has the technology.

The evolution of technology in the cyber security industry goes decades back. The technology graduated from anti-virus to firewall, from IPS to HIPS, from Log Management to Next Generation SIEM, from EDR to XDR, but the core question remains unanswered “Is my organization safe despite having the world’s best technology in place”? And it will remain unanswered till we address the “People” part, till we address the human risk.

We strongly believe that human risk management is the X-factor in cybersecurity. If you remove People from the cybersecurity equation, the math just fails.  Organizations need to go beyond security awareness to address the human risk. With AI taking over the world, the answer to AI-powered cyber threats is an AI-Driven approach. A holistic and “Aidaptive” approach that uses Artificial Intelligence to correlate end user centric aspects of cyber security, such as security awareness, phishing readiness, phishing incident response, policy compliance and behavior monitoring. An approach that helps end users to make informed decisions when technology fails, so they can play their role in protecting the digital boundaries of the organization and ultimately contribute towards building a cyber secure culture.

The challenge before our industry is no longer confined to technological advancements, the challenge is understanding the people who use it. Through Aidaptive and an AI-driven Human Risk Management approach, we are helping organizations close that gap and build a more resilient digital future. Because the future of cybersecurity will not be defined solely by the technology organizations deploy, but by the behaviors they cultivate.
