CIOs Leading the AI Supercycle – Bridging the Expectations Gap

As organizations accelerate AI adoption, CIOs are under mounting pressure to translate business expectations into measurable outcomes. IDC research shows that 64% of EMEA CEOs expect measurable business results from agentic AI within the next 24 months, yet fewer than half of organizations have delivered measurable outcomes from more than half of their AI projects. While investment in AI infrastructure continues to surge, many enterprises remain stuck between experimentation and scale, challenged by fragmented initiatives, uncertain ROI, rising costs, and increasing governance requirements. The real barrier to AI value is no longer interest, but execution.

At the same time, agentic AI is emerging as the next phase of the AI supercycle. Autonomous agents promise to transform business processes, create new revenue opportunities, and reshape operating models, but only for organizations that can build the right foundations. This session explores how CIOs can bridge the AI expectations gap by balancing innovation with oversight, turning AI investments into sustainable business value, and leading the transition toward the AI-fueled enterprise.

Thinking Beyond AI

AI investment is accelerating, but enterprise value remains elusive. Most organizations struggle to translate AI activity into measurable business impact—not because the technology fails, but because the operating model doesn’t change. The strategic question has fundamentally shifted: organizations are no longer asking “How can AI help us work better?” but rather “What becomes possible now?” Agentic AI expands the entire option space for strategy and operations, unlocking new degrees of freedom. However, winners won’t be those who automate the most or bolt agents onto legacy systems. They’ll be those who reimagine the possible—who exploit the new strategic option space agentic AI creates and build the enterprise architecture to support transformational impact.

Autonomy is Outrunning Accountability

At the IDC CIO Summit, One Identity’s Technology Strategist Alan Radford will unpack one of the most urgent identity challenges facing enterprises today: as AI agents and autonomous systems take on more decision-making and action-taking power, the guardrails for who (or what) is accountable haven’t kept pace.

Your Employees’ AI Tools Will Break Identity Security. Don’t Stop Them. Secure Them.

AI agents now access your most sensitive systems, secrets, and data – but most organisations can’t see them, govern them, or audit what they’re doing. That’s not a future risk. It’s today’s gap. This session gives you a practical framework: Discover shadow AI and exposed credentials, Secure them with Just-In-Time and Just Enough Access, and Audit every action with full attribution across humans and machines.

Has the quantum moment finally arrived?

Quantum computing has quietly crossed from theory into traction — 73% of organizations are already engaged, and real deployments in several sectors are proving it. It’s not here to replace classical computing or AI — it’s the new specialist joining the team, built for the exponentially hard problems that leave both of them stuck, and enterprises increasingly see it as AI’s future teammate rather than its rival. With a fast-diversifying vendor landscape and industries from finance to manufacturing already seeing results, the message for leaders in selected industries is blunt: the wait-and-see era is over, and the organizations building quantum fluency now — anchored to real business problems, not lab specs — are the ones who’ll benefit first when the technology fully matures.
