Overview
The past two years have been marked by the rising enthusiasm of business executives for the opportunities and promises of Al to reimagine their business and operating models and drive sustainable business value. Al has become a key accelerators of organizations’ digital roadmaps, driving a double-digit growth of digital investments in the region.
What stands out in Europe is that an overwhelming 99% of CEOs have identified ”using Al responsibly” as a paramount priority for their organizations, pointing to the need for an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable value generation.
Today, senior management is effectively under pressure to deliver a tangible return on these investments and to scale proof of concepts to accelerate their Al-Fueled Business. This will require organizations to focus on key success factors that are differentiating leading organizations from peers, including having the right strategy, overcoming organizational silos, having a solid, intelligent and secure architecture, and a governance-by design approach.

Thomas Karlsson is since early 2015 Project Manager within Go-to-Market Services at IDC Nordic. He has extensive experience in producing custom marketing and lead generating activities from previous employments, among others, the business newspaper Dagens industri and the business magazine Affärsvärlden. At IDC Thomas key focus is on delivering, together with IDCs analysts, the right content-based marketing solution to help support IDC clients reaching new contacts, leads and markets.
Lapo Fioretti
Senior market intelligence analyst with 6+ years of experience specializing in emerging technologies, digital economy, and regulatory impacts. Proven expertise advising C-suite executives and technology vendors on strategic market entry, investment, and digital transformation. Skilled in delivering actionable insights, driving go-to-market strategies, and leading client engagements that support business growth and innovation.
Bo Lykkegard
Bo Lykkegaard is associate vice president for the enterprise-software-related expertise centers in Europe. His team focuses on the $172 billion European software market, specifically on business applications, customer experience, business analytics, and artificial intelligence. Specific research areas include market analysis, competitive analysis, end-user case studies and surveys, thought leadership, and custom market models.
Based in Copenhagen, Lykkegaard joined IDC’s European Software Group as a senior research analyst in November 2002. Before joining IDC, he worked as a sales specialist at IBM in Denmark, selling software solutions to large accounts. Prior to this, he set up a software sales unit for GBM (IBM distributor) in Honduras and worked as an ERP consultant at Capgemini in Denmark. During 2018–2020, he took time off from IDC to work on several software start-ups.
Lykkegaard has an MSc in business administration and technology management at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, which included a semester at Brandeis University, Boston.
Lars Sudmann
Lars Sudmann is an executive advisor, author, and keynote speaker on leadership, innovation, strategy, and digital transformation. A senior fellow and council director at the global think tank The Conference Board, Lars has been featured in Forbes, BBC Capital, Fast Company, and The Chicago Tribune.
A former P&G executive and CFO for Belgium, Lars combines corporate leadership experience with deep consulting and board expertise, advising startups and Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Vodafone, SAP, and Siemens. His TEDx talks have been viewed over two million times, and his latest book is “Innovation that Sticks.”
